Day #54 - February 25, 2010 - A little personal

Before I get to the picture, I'm going to tell a tid bit of personal information about myself...
Thanks to my mom's sisters, I was blessed with big boobs. Well, most would call it blessed, I however, do not. I can not buy "regular" bras, not even from Victorias Secret, and God forbid I find a swim suit that fits correctly! I have pretty much come to terms that this is how my body is and plastic surgery is the only thing that can fix it, which I'm not quite ready to do just yet. I know I will HAVE to do it someday though. My back hurts, I have indentions in my shoulders from my bra strap and I HATE going to the gym mainly because of this issue. There is no such thing as a good, SUPPORTIVE sports bra for my big tata's. :) So, its a regular bra with a sports bra on top and that's just a pain in the butt. When I was younger, this was a huge insecurity for me. It still is, but not near as much. I would dread summer because I knew I would have to go shopping for swim suits and never find one. I would find one occasionally, but it was never as cute as what the other girls and my friends were wearing. Like I said, I have pretty much come to terms with this issue and I know that my swimsuits may not be the newest, cutest thing, but if I can find something that fits, BUY IT! I have not bought a new swim suit since January of 2007 when I went on a cruise. I decided with our upcoming trip to Cancun coming up, I needed to go start now to try to find something! I walked in to Everything But Water, where I got the previous swim suit I bought back in 2007, and I found the Sunsets brand they carry there. I found this amazing top and some black bottoms. They come in bra sizes and even have an underwire bra on the inside for that support I need. They didn't have any other colors there I liked that weren't too "old lady" ish so I decided to look online and see if I could find any other available colors. I found this red and white polkadot style and fell in love! I ordered it online with the red bottoms and got it yesterday in the mail. I knew it would fit because its the same style and size as the one I bought at Everything But Water, but I tried it on last night and I think I might actually feel comfortable and swimsuit this year, FINALLY! I bought a solid red top as well to go with the bottoms, so I have 3 swimsuits this year that actually fit correctly, give support where I need it, and most of all, are actually cute! I know it's not something I would pick out for myself if I had that perfect body, but this is far better than anything I have found for my boobies. ;) So, MAJOR KUDOS to Sunsets swimwear for making this amazing swim suit!

Day #53 - February 24, 2010 - Squirrles and birds!

Excuse the very bad quality of this picture and the messiness of the house!
Last night my friend Summer was coming over to have dinner and watch Idol with me. The cats love watching out the glass screen door so I decided to open it while I was waiting on her. Cotton is watching all the birds and squirrles outside here and I know you can't tell but every time one would move, his head would go back and forth and he would get closer and closer to the door. Both of the cats love to stand at the door and just watch outside for hours! I can't leave it open for too long right now because it gets to cold in the house, but once it warms up, I have a feeling it'll be open most of the time. :)

And yay for Texas and DFW representing in the final 24 of American Idol! North Richland Hills, Ft. Worth, Arlington, Duncanville, and Amarillo! WOOO!

Day #52 - February 23, 2010 - Snow in Houston?

Not likely...
All day Tuesday and about 5 days before that all we heard on the news was about this "Winter Blast" that was coming our way. We did get snow here in December, so I was actually somewhat convinced that the weather man might be right on the snow again... I was watching the weather all day at school on Tuesday on my computer and waited and waited for the pink and white on the map to get to Houston, hoping for a chance of getting out of school early! :) Yup, it never made it! At least not to my neck of the woods. It did snow and ice in the outskirts of Houston, but I got my hopes up for nothing! I am so sick of the cold weather though. I don't think it has ever been this cold here this late in the season. I'm ready for Spring already!

Day #51 - February 22, 2010 - New knobs

So, in the last post I said that we spent a lot of the day home improvement shopping. Well, this is one of the things we have improved. We did one doorknob a few months ago just to make sure we liked it, and we finally went back and got the rest of them from Home Depot. We have only done the downstairs as of now and we will go back later and get the rest for the upstairs once we are completely finished remodeling the downstairs. This is a huge upgrade from what we had. There was ugly gold round knobs which isn't our style at all. We need to do some touch ups on the paint as well. We also went to a store called The Great Indoors and picked out the tile we want to put down in the kitchen and bathrooms and the granite countertop and sink we want for the kitchen. That stuff will come once John gets his tax refund back. I can't wait to post pics of all the before and afters after we are finished!

Day #50 - February 21, 2010 - A meatloaf dinner!

Yesterday was such a good day! We relaxed at home most of the day then did some home improvement shopping (i'm going to write about that later this week!). Once we made it home, I started meatloaf for dinner while John watched the USA vs. Canada hockey game. I posted about the meatloaf here and while I usually make mashed potatoes with it, this time we decided to make asparagus. We bought the asparagus last time we went to the grocery store and we had to use it before it went bad. I made parmesean roasted asparagus found in this cookbook. I'm not a huge asparagus fan, but it was pretty darn good if I have to say so myself! Cheese can make anything good :) And I had plenty of leftover meatloaf for lunches this week!

Day #49 - February 20, 2010 - That's all I got!

Saturday we slept late, went to look at a car that John is thinking about buying, shopped at Costco, then went to dinner with John's family for his dad's birthday. When we were about to go to bed, I realized I hadn't taken a picture yet and this is what I got last minute! :)

Day #48 - February 19, 2010 - Summer sandals

Friday, these beauties were waiting on my back porch for me courtesy of the UPS man! I saw these at Gap a few weeks ago, went back to get them and of course they didn't have my size. John had also found a shirt he liked while we were in there and they didn't have his size either so we decided to just go ahead and order online. I had a 25% off coupon too and got free shipping! I absolutely love them and can't wait for it to get warm so I can wear them.

Day #46 - February 18, 2010 - Bad cats!

This is what I came home to today in the downstairs bathroom! I know this isn't too bad; it has been worse in the past (toilet paper scattered across the living room) but they have recently started doing this again and I don't know why! I understand if I am gone for a loooong time, but I'm not. I have a feeling I know which cat it is though, because SHE is the only one with claws! Unless Cotton is doing it with his teeth... which actually wouldn't surprise me! ;) haha

Day #45 - February 17, 2010 - Cupcakes :)

Ok, I know this is a terrible picture, but it's harder than you think to take a picture of a charm! After all, I don't have one of those fancy schmancy cameras! :) Anyway, this is what was in the James Avery bag John gave me for Valentine's Day. It's a little cupcake charm and I just love it. I took it Sunday to get soldered while we were out shopping and luckily got to pick it up on Wednesday! There wasn't a 3 week wait like last time. All this talk of cupcakes is making me want one... too bad I have to wait 38 more days :-P

Day #44 - February 16, 2010 - An addiction?

I have an addiction...
I drink way too many diet cokes. I drink 1 can in the morning, 1 with lunch, 1 at dinner and usually 1 more in there somewhere depending on the day. I know I need to stop or atleast cut it down and drink more water, but literally I'm addicted. I crave them. And when I don't have them, I get a headache; a caffiene headache that only a diet coke or an excedrin will get rid of.
So, I was debating giving up the soda's for lent. No, I'm not catholic, but John is, so I wanted to do this with him, and one day (hopefully soon) I will be converting to Catholicism. But, I have decided against it. I can't go that long with headaches every day. Maybe next year? I have decided though to try to give up the desserts until Easter! And when I say desserts, I'm meaning cakes, icecream, candy, etc. Hopefully that will break my sweet tooth :P Looks like I'll be loading up on sugar free jello at the house for awhile. That stuff is amazing for a quick craving!

What are y'all giving up for lent?

Day #43 - February 15, 2010 - A lazy day and a birthday celebration

Monday, John and I both had off work and we really enjoyed each others company :) We went to the gym together and then relaxed at home until our dinner plans that night. We celebrated our friend Paige's birthday Monday night at P.F.Changs, one of our fav restaurants! :P These are some of the desserts that were ordered at our table. From left to right is strawberry cheesecake, red velvet cake, apple pie and tiramisu! Mine of course was the red velvet :) I love these small desserts. My sweet tooth gets gets satisfied but it's not too much where I feel extremely guilty afterwards!

Day #42 - February 14, 2010 - A fun-filled day!

Ok... I know this is supposed to be a picture a day, but I have 2 again! I promise this is the last one. :)

Valentines Day we woke up and I cooked us breakfast and we lounged in our PJ's all morning! John gave me my Valentine's gift which is in this picture! I will make a post later in the week about what was in the James Avery bag but he also got us the Xel-Ha Excursion for our trip to Cancun in March! I am sooo excited for that! I had already given John his Valentine's present which was the trip to Cancun, so this was a great addition! :) We ended up going to the mall later in the day and shopped our hearts out then had dinner at his parents for Valentine's Day. They got us some chocolate and lottery tickets but we didn't win anything! We went to see Dear John after that. I loved it! The end could have been better, but it was still a good movie. And it helps that Savanah and John are the characters names :) hehe. After the movie, we made it home and of course I had to get some Valentine's cuddle time in with my kitties...

I love how Cotton has the putmedownorillbiteyou look on his face! hahaha

Day #41 - February 13, 2010 - Valentine's Date!

I have 2 pictures for this day too :)

John and I celebrated Valentine's Day on Saturday night with an awesome dinner at Vic and Anthony's Steakhouse in Downtown Houston. We started with the crab cake, then got ceasar salads and I ordered the filet as my meal. We also got augratin potatoes and asparagus for our side dishes. It was amazing!
Then for dessert...

We went to The Chocolate Bar! We shared a piece of their Night and Day cake and I got a white chocolate covered strawberry to go! It was an awesome night!

Day #40 - February 12, 2010 - It's been awhile

Wow, feels like it's been forever since I've updated this thing! But, of course I have still been snapping pictures like a crazy woman and now it's time to update!
And, I have two pictures for this day :)

First, these are the flowers the boyfriend had delivered to my school on Friday! :) It was a big surprise and I love them. I especially love the vase and the heart and the fact that it's not all roses!
And second...

This was the dinner I made Friday night for us. We have been trying very hard lately to not eat out as much and plan meals ahead of time before going to the grocery store. And, at the beginning of this blog I told myself I was going to make it a point to document the new things I'm trying in the kitchen. So, this is the Cheddar Garlic Oven Fried Chicken found on this blog. I just used chicken tenders rather than chicken breasts so the pieces were smaller. Then we also made the roasted broccoli found on this blog. It was a very good dinner and easy. We will add this one to our rotation! :-P

Day #39 - February 11, 2010 - Disappointing...

Last night John and I decided to go to Chili's for dinner. We have tried not to eat out but we had nothing in the house so we decided to eat at Chili's then go to the grocery store.
Well, let me just say Chili's just isn't the same! They changed their menu and it sucks. They took away what I order everytime I go there (the Chicken Ceasar Pita) and the new thing I did order was just blah. I got the taco combo with the Chicken Tacos. It was 4 mini tacos with chicken, cheese and bacon on a corn tortilla. I ordered it with no sour cream, but still it just needed something more. Luckily we had ordered chips and salsa so I added the salsa to the tacos to give it a bit more flavor. The waitress had been kind of awkward all dinner but after we finished eating and she took my plate she dropped my dirty fork in my lap that had black beans all over it. Luckily it just got on my jeans and not the white shirt I was wearing, but still, I was kinda upset. So, needless to say we won't be making any trips back to Chili's...

Day #38 - February 10, 2010 - A bad start to a day

Unfortunately, I had to use this at work this morning... :( I can't give details of course, but it's just a sad situation and it was not a good way to start my day!
I am looking forward to getting off work, going to the gym, then plopping down on the couch for some good dinner and Ellen on American Idol!

Day #37 - February 9, 2010 - Valentine's package!

My mom sent John and I a Valentine's package! It had a card, candy, a little cat desk calendar (for me of course!) and some other cute things in it. :) There were 2 of these cupcakes in there. It's a marshmallow on a stick and I thought it was too cute. I opened one and tasted it though.... I was expecting something like a Peep (you know those marshmallows at Easter?) But ugh, it was gross. Oh well, it was still sooo cute!

Day #36 - February 8, 2010 - Snuggies and The Bachelor

And, here is my new snuggie!
Last night I curled up on the couch with my snuggie and The Bachelor. And, wow at the drama...
I didn't want Ali to leave, but I would have probably made the same decision if I were in that situation. It's not guaranteed that she'll be the last one standing. Now, I'm really scared that Vienna will make it to the end. Tenley is still my fav! :D
And, who else is super excited about Ellen's first night on American Idol tonight?!

Day #35 - February 7, 2010 - A late Christmas

So, Sunday afternoon, we drove back to Houston, went to Kevin and Summer's to watch the Super Bowl then finally made it home around 10pm.
Let me start from the beginning on this picture...
I didn't get to see my Nannie and Papa that live in East Texas at Christmas because John and I went to New York. My mom and sister went and met them and my aunt and uncle and cousins a few weeks ago and they gave my mom our presents. So, John and I got new snuggies :) We got home Sunday night and it was freezing in the house because we had left the heater off when we left for Ft. Worth. John was messing around in the kitchen and he came around the corner wearing his snuggie and I just started laughing. My mom gave us this Texas Tech picture while we were in Ft. Worth as well. So, I made him hold his picture so I could take a picture of him with his new presents :) hehe
Let me mention that he had had a few beers at the Super Bowl party before hand :)haha

Day #34 - February 6, 2010 - Family time!

Saturday morning John and I made the 4 hour drive up to Ft. Worth to see my family. Every year we go to the Ft. Worth Stock Show and Rodeo so this was the annual trip. I have been to the rodeo every year since I was born and when I was younger we would even go twice a year. Now that I live in Houston, it's usually just a short weekend trip home, but it's something I would never miss! This picture is of me and my sister, Celie, at the Rodeo. Celie is in the FFA at her school and showed her cow, Boss, the Thursday before at the Stock Show and got 5th place which means she got to take it to the sale. She ended up selling Boss earlier that morning before the Rodeo. It's amazing how much those kids get for the cows! She is a senior this year and she is going to Blinn in College Station for her first 2 years of school then will transfer in to Texas A&M after that. I am so excited for her to be going to College Station because that means she is 3 hours closer to me! :D

Day #33 - February 5, 2010 - The Blind Side

Friday night after our workout we had yummy BBQ for dinner then we watched The Blind Side. (No, it's not out on DVD yet, but John's parents bought it when we were in NY...shhh) :) I'm sure a lot of you have seen this movie so no need to go in to details, but it was excellent. I loved seeing all the pictures of the real Michael Oher in the credits at the end. It was such a good story!

Day #32 - February 4, 2010 - The Opera!

Last night my friend, Summer, and I headed to the Opera! It was Opera in the Heights and we saw Un Ballo In Maschera. I haven't been to an Opera since I was in elementary school. And, I was pretty sure this wasn't going to be my favorite way to spend a Thursday night. But, the tickets were free through my school district, so what the heck.
I was actually pleasantly surprised. I wouldn't want to do this every week, but it was a nice change of scenery. :) I don't like that it is Italian and you have to read sub-titles and it was a little too long (3 hours). But, overall, it was a fun night! (this is a picture of the front of the program we received)

Day #31 - February 3, 2010 - Go away Birdie...

You see that box that's connected to the window and coming in to my office up there? There is a flippin bird living in it and it is driving me nuts! All day long at work I hear birds chirping and flapping away in there! It just started yesterday and now it's non stop! I'm not sure if there's a nest or what, but it sure is annoying. I told the janitor to see if he could get it out and nope, he just blames it on this being an old school, blah blah blah... Ends up, there are several of those "boxes" in the school with birds living in them so these birds are chirping and flapping away in the classrooms too. Talk about annoying to teachers trying to teach!
Yes, random, I know, but I'm just a little peeved right now! haha

Day #30 - February 2, 2010 - Charmed

I finally got my charm bracelet back! I got a new charm for Christmas (the flip flop) and took it to James Avery a few weeks later to get it soldered on. I thought I had beat the after Christmas rush, but unfortunately I didn't. It took them nearly 3 weeks to solder on 1 charm! I've had this charm bracelet since I was in middle school. I stopped wearing it after I graduated from highschool and after receiving a charm last year for my birthday I decided to start wearing it again. I ended up having some charms taken off because of course things had majorly changed since I was in middle school. I had a horned frog charm and a TCU charm because I attended one year at TCU, I had hearts and I Love You's from old highschool boyfriends which needed to come off, and the clarinet and music notes from my highschool band days which are no longer "me" anymore. After that, it was pretty empty, but gradually my collection has increased and includes things that are the new version of "me." :)
I've been a James Avery girl since middle school when one of my best friends gave me a pair of cute heart earrings and I fell in love. My collection of James Avery jewelry is massive and pretty much every holiday I receive something from there. I pretty much wear the same things every day, but it's nice to have different options to choose from. Here's just a glimpse at some of my collection...
John got me this ring and this necklace for my last birthday, this bracelet for the birthday before that, and this ring for Christmas a couple of years ago. He knows he can't go wrong with something from James Avery. :)

Day #29 - February 1, 2010 - Cuddle time!

Last night after I got home from the gym, I had dinner and cuddled up on the couch to watch The Bachelor (I'll get to that in a second...). Anyway, it never fails that when I have a blanket on me one of the cats will be up in my lap, but this! This rarely happens. If the other cat jumps up with me the other will get down. So, I made John take a picture with me and my 2 kitties! :)

And, now back to The Bachelor! What the heck was Jake thinking? Vienna again?? I didn't like Corrie too much, but I liked her better than Vienna. I reeeeally hope she doesn't end up at the very end. Tenley is still my favorite and Ali is moving down on my list. I did not like her outfit on the San Francisco date last night. The boots did not go with that dress at all. I guess we'll see what happens!

Day #28 - January 31, 2010 - New car anyone?

Sunday we headed to the Car Show at Reliant Park. I'll be due for a new car in July when my lease is up on my current car, a 2007 4 door Accord. I love going to car shows but this year I was actually looking at pricing, features, and body styles that would fit what I need. I think I have it narrowed down to 3 choices.
If I decide to opt for another car, I'll go for the 2010 Accord Coupe. I had a 2001 Civic before I had my Accord and never had a problem with either of them. I love Hondas. I know a 2 door car is very impractical, but I love the sporty look and I don't plan on having kids anytime soon so what do I really need 4 doors for? :) Anyway, this picture is me in front of the EX-L V6 model they had there. I think this is the model I want except in RED! I would like to have a navigation system because I have one now and LOOOOVE IT! But, depends on what kind of deals they can give me. I can always get an aftermarket one for way less than the Honda installed one.
If I decide to go for an SUV I'll stick with the Honda and get a CRV or change it up a little bit and get the new Chevy Equinox. I think it will come down to test driving and seeing who can give me the best deal. But, I'm pretty sure those are the final 3 choices :)

Day #27 - January 30, 2010 - Life is... Precious

Have any of you seen this movie?
Saturday night we went to a friends apartment for a game night and then came home and watched Precious. And, O.M.G!!
The first 10 minutes had tears in my eyes. I had no idea what this movie was about. John's parents had bought it and let us borrow it and it was not what I was expecting at all. I can't believe some of the stuff this teen went through; illiteracy, incest, 2 pregnancys, abuse, HIV... WOW! It really put my life in to perspective and how good I have it. It reminded me of the students I have at school... I know of several who have gone through very similar situations and I'm sure many more are dealing with this as well and we just don't know about it. So SAD!
The movie is rated PG13, but in my honest opinion it is a bit much for a 13 year old! I definitely think it should be rated R. If you have not seen this movie, go watch it!

Day #26 - January 29, 2010 - Good music, good friends!

Friday night we headed out to hear DunVille at The Firehouse Saloon! The lead singer, DJ, is one of our good friends and John's old roommate. This is a picture of me with the band. You can check them out on Facebook or Myspace, although I can't post a direct link to their page because I'm not allowed to access those sites at work. :( Anyway, it's always a fun time with good music, so watch their dates and see if they are ever near you! :)
