1. Ft. Worth, Texas!
This is my hometown and being away from home the past 5 years has made me love this city more and more.

2. Vegas!
Yes, I picked Vegas over Chicago, Orlando, NYC, and all the other cool places I've been. I'm not a gambler and not a real big drinker, but we have a ball every time we go! It's one of those places that you miss so much once you leave and can't wait to go back to!

30 day blog journal - day 28-30

Well, it's the final 3 days of the 30 day blog journal! I hope that I can find other things to write about now that this is over! :)

Day 29 - hopes,dreams and plans for the next 365 days
In the next year, the only thing that I am dreaming about and hoping for is to be engaged to the man I love and planning a wedding with him. Hopefully we'll get to take a vacation or 2 in there somewhere, and I hope to save some more money in order to put a dent in my student loans.

Day 30 - a dream for the future
Does winning the lottery count?? haha. j/k Past the 365 days, I hope that I am and stay happily married for the rest of my life with a kid or 2 in the mix as well :)

30 day journal - day 26 & 27

Day 26 - your week, in great detail
Let's see if I can remember all this...
Sunday: John and I woke up Sunday morning around 11 got ready and went and had a Mexican lunch with our friends Summer and Kevin at Guadalajara. After lunch, we went to best buy to look around, Costco and Michaels where I got some super cute fall decorations for the house and fall scented candles. I can't wait to use them :) If I remember correctly, we didn't do anything else the rest of the day. Just relax!

Monday: The first day of school... It went well, no major catastrophes or illnesses. Enrollment wasn't as high as the principal would have liked, but overall a good day. John and I went and ate dinner at Palazzo's that night. It's a nice little italian food place right by our house.

Tuesday: School again... nothing too exciting. Ate dinner at P.F. Changs for a friends birthday. John and I ordered the two person meal which came with won ton soup, chicken lettuce wraps, my sweet and sour chicken and his mongolian beef, and then our mini desserts, mine was the lemon cake :-P

Wednesday: School again.... not a good day for me. Super busy, but I'm not complaining about that. Just a mean person at school who always hassles me. Went home and moped around b/c of my bad day. Ate my leftover sweet and sour chicken for dinner while John was at school.
Thursday: School again. Another crappy day which actually ended up in me crying at school. After work I went to Happy Hour at Brio with my other school nurse buddies to vent about or schools and bad days over a much needed drink and the $2.95 appetizers!

Once I got home, the bad day continued when I went upstairs to feel the carpet was wet and our room smelled really bad. We ripped part of the carpet up and the pad and wood were soaked under there...We think the shower is leaking under the wall. Not good.
Today: Back at work, starting off to be a good day (knock on wood). Going shopping after work to use some coupons I have.

And then meeting my friend Jenny at some other people at Escalantes for dinner tonight! Jenny is a travel nurse and her and her hubby live out of town right now and she's fixin to have a baby! Her baby shower in Houston is tomorrow and I'm so glad she's here after this pretty crappy week!

Day 27 - my worst habit

Off to College!

Saturday John and I woke up early and made the hour trip up to College Station to help my family get my sister moved in to her dorm. She got a room by herself so she had quite a bit of room for furniture. They brought my old full size bed from home and a nice recliner to fill some space.

I was really surprised when she picked out pink for everything in her room because she is not a "pink person." haha. But, if you look closely, it's pink camo! :) She's a country girl and probably driving a bigger truck than most of the boys there with a pink deer head sticker on the back. Yes, she killed that deer hanging on her wall.






It was a fun, but tiring day and I'm looking forward to our many trips back and forth to see each other since we are so close now!

Day 25 - your day, in great detail
Of course this topic would fall on one of the crappiest days I've had in awhile. It started off with me over sleeping by 30 minutes so I took a quick bath, threw on some clothes and hair up in pony tail and headed to work. I made it to work on time, luckily. Since it's only the 3rd day of school, we are still having people come in to enroll at our school and I had several parents be ugly when I told them their child needed a vaccine or proof that they were pregnant, etc. Then, if they did have all that, I worked through all the paperwork I had to do, then I would find out that they didn't finish enrolling. Out of the 6 or 7 people that came and I did all my stuff on, only 1 stayed and finished. Such a waste of my time. Then I get called to the day care for a baby that has "thrash" which is actually thrush but some people are just stupid. And, I just get treated like a piece of crap sometimes and people think they can dump stuff on me and be rude either because of my age or the color of my skin or both. I'm not sure what it is. There were a lot of little things happening today that just really got to me that I don't want to get in to on my blog incase God forbid anyone from work found this. I left work and got all the way out to my car before I realized I forgot to sign out, so I had to walk back in and do that in the 105 degree heat. I stopped and got gas at Costco on my way home and the stupid card reader wouldn't work. Luckily there was a guy outside who helped me with that. Once I got home, I read something posted between 2 of my "friends" on facebook that really upset me, but I'm not getting in to that on here either. I had my left over sweet and sour chicken and brown rice from PF Changs for dinner which was actually good, and now, it's 7pm, and I'm sitting on the couch watching the recorded Jersey Shore from last week. I will probably sit here until it's time to go to bed which will probably be earlier than usual tonight because I have a headache from the crying and stress of today. Hopefully tomorrow I will wake up on the right side of the bed...

Let's play ball!

The NY Mets were in town this past week and John and I took advantage of that and made our way out to Minute Maid Park to see them play the Astros sporting our blue and orange. We went to 2 games out of the 4 and of course, they lost both games we went to and won the 2 we didn't go to. But, it was still fun and we look forward to this time every year when they are in town!

A long week back at work...

Last week was my official first week back at school. Tuesday started the week with nurses training with all the nurses in HISD. Wednesday - Friday were spent up at my school in trainings and in-services getting ready for the first day at school. In between all those meetings I found time to rearrange and make over the clinic a little bit. My school is 80 years old so what I'm working with isn't much but I am lucky thought that I have a HUGE clinic and it's my own space. I don't share with the front office at all!
This is my immunization bulletin board I put together for the first few months of school when I know I'll be dealing with all the stragglers. I am almost positive I will be referencing this on a daily basis the first few weeks of school at least!

Tomorrow is the first day of school and it will probably be another long week; going in early and staying late. I'm still not used to getting up at 5:30am, but I am glad to be back at work hopefully making a difference in these kids lives!

30 day blog journal - day 20 & 21

Day 20 - a hobby of yours
Well, I guess I don't really have any "hobbies" per say, which is really lame. I do however have several things that I like to do in my free time, but I wouldn't necessarily consider them hobbies.
1. Taking pictures

2. Playing tennis

3. Traveling

4. Biking


I'm gonna go ahead and do Saturday's post because I am going to be in College Station all day moving my sister to college tomorrow! (Stay tuned on a post from that!)

Day 21 - a recipe
This is a hard one for me too... When I cook I'm not very good at following instructions. I'm going to use John's mom's meatloaf recipe here b/c I love it but I don't have exact measurements on all the ingredients.

2-3lbs of ground beef
2 or 3 eggs (one for each lb of meat)
seasoned bread crumbs
garlic powder
onion powder
(with the bread crumbs and powders I pour a little in, mix it in, and pour more and do that a few times until I've covered all the meat. I will usually base if I have enough on smell though.)
salt
pepper
a dash of A1 sauce

Mix all ingredients in a bowl and place in a loaf pan and cook for 1 1/2 hours at 350. I usually make with mashed potatoes and the packet of brown gravy mix.
This is not your typical tomato meatloaf with ketchup. I can't stand that kind of meat loaf, this is totally different. This is one of our favorite meals and when I use 2lbs of meat it makes 4 servings.

Day 19 - a talent of yours

hmmm... well, I can play the clarinet and the piano. I haven't picked up the clarinet in about 4 or 5 years but I know I would still be able to do it and you never forget how to read music. My senior year of highschool, I even played the E flat clarinet (the "normal" clarinet is a B flat). Usually it's only one person playing it so you have more solos and such. It's a lot smaller and higher pitched than the B flat.



I also took piano lessons for awhile when I was younger and I am not very good at it, BUT I know how. And, no, not just Mary Had a Little Lamb ;)

Who doesn't love George Strait in Pure Country...? I absolutely love this song and really listening to the words just gets to me...

umm, yeah, I have no idea what to put in this category. I wish I had something that I made in art class in middle school to take a picture of, but it's at my mom's house framed :) I'm not a big "art" person. Sure, I have stuff in our house, but it's nothing famous or anything to speak highly of. So, I am going to leave it at that...


Day 18 - my wedding/future wedding/past wedding

I haven't had my wedding yet, but it will consist of this...








Yup, we'll be on the beaches of Jamaica, Mexico, Key West of Hawaii getting married one day...ahhhhhh
