John and I were looking for some new recipes to try before our last trip to the grocery store. I recently downloaded the Rahael Ray Everyday Food Faves app to the iPhone/iPad.

We found a recipe for this Ham, Egg and Cheese Bake...

Instead of writing out the ingredients and instructions I'll use the iPhones handy dandy screen shots!

And this was our final product...

Neither one of us are very fond of tomatoes so we only put tomatoes on part of it just to see if we liked it. I couldn't really taste that much of a difference, but the tomatoes definitely make it look prettier. It was a pretty good, easy dish to make for dinner or breakfast!

Chinatown

We have a friend named BorTing. When he would come over to our house he would bring these weird tea drinks from Chinatown. The first time I had it, I wasn't really sure how I felt about it. But the last time he brought one over I decided I really liked it and I might want to have it again.
Here's a little background just in case you didn't know...there's one little part of Houston called Chinatown. You can find these teahouses on every corner.

I started my new job a few weeks ago and I started driving through Chinatown every day. I had the urge the other day to stop and grab one of those funky teas I mentioned above, but was too scared to stop in because I wasn't sure what to order. I sent a text to our friend and asked him what it is he brought over and the next day, I had this in my hand...

I think this is one of my new favorite things. It's Tapioca Milk Tea. Ok, the tapioca balls take some getting used to, but I found myself picking the tapioca balls out of the bottom of the cup to eat even when all my tea was gone. I'm not sure what it is about this stuff because I'm not a big tea drinker, but when it's mixed with the milk and tapioca, it's oh so good! This teahouse is going to be a dangerous thing for me on my home from work every day! This particular teahouse I stopped in had a HUGE menu and I can't wait to try some of their other flavors of teas, slushies, smoothies, and fruit gels. YUM!

Ready for Christmas

I got the new Crate & Barrel catalog in the mail this week and I am so ready to start decorating for Christmas.
These are a few of things I might be making a trip to Crate & Barrel to pick up soon!

[Skating Reindeer Doormat]

[Jewel Stripe Stocking]

[Jewel Ruby Stocking]

[Jewel Ruby Tree Skirt]

I am in love with these stockings and tree skirt! I have been searching for stockings that I loved and I think these are it! We didn't even have stockings last year b/c I never found any I liked. We don't have a mantle but I plan on hanging them on our 2 shelves that hang above our computer desk.

[Meow Cat Stocking]

The kitties have to have stockings too!

[Set of 3 Glitter Ball Silver Ornaments]

[Set of 3 Glitter Ball Red Ornaments]

[Set of 3 Glitter Ball Green Ornaments]

[Set of 2 Textured Antique Glass Red Ornaments]

I need some pretty ornaments to fill up my large apothecary jar that pine cones are occupying now. I like the glitter balls for the apothecary jar. I LOVE the antiqued ones though! If I decide to re-do our tree, I might do all red with white lights and use those antiqued ornaments.

[Snowflake Hurricane]

[Joy Dish Towel]

I picked up a bunch of Christmas stuff at Pier 1 last year on major clearance after Christmas so I don't need a whole lot. But all of this stuff, budget allowing, would definitely make our house feel a little more like the holidays! :)

3 years ago today

Well, I use this blog as a place to vent, write about my life, what I'm doing, etc.
So, today I'm writing about where I was at 3 years ago today.
3 years ago today, I was supposed to be walking down the aisle, marrying the man who at the time I thought was my soul mate. Look at me now, look how God had totally different plans for me!
Me writing about this doesn't mean that I'm not over it. I absolutely am. It's just weird to look back at how much things have changed over the past 3 years. Part of me can't believe it's been 3 years and part of me feels like it's been way longer than that. I mean, look at me now! It's so funny how you can have every little detail of your life planned out and then God shows you that's not what HIS plans were.
I think I'll always remember October 20th as the day I was supposed to get married. I think a part of me will always think back to the heartache I felt when this day rolls around ever year. However, every year, those thoughts get shorter and smaller and who knows, maybe one day, they'll be completely gone?
I don't know if they will, but when I do have those thoughts, it's just a true testament to me of how God has His plan and there's nothing we can do to fix it, change it or predetermine what it is.
I'm not angry anymore, I'm not sad anymore, I don't regret anything. Things are just they way they are supposed to be and I am truly looking forward to whatever my future has in store!

Our day at the fair!

I talked here about how I was so excited to go to the State Fair of Texas!
Well, we finally made it out to the fair to watch Texas Tech play Baylor at the Cotton Bowl.
The day was definitely an adventure and we've decided we've had our day at the fair and we probably won't go back, at least not on a game day!
We left my mom's house in Ft. Worth at 9am and the game started at 11 so we thought we had plenty of time. 3 1/2 hours later, at 12:30 we finally made it in side The Cotton Bowl to see the last 6 minutes of the first half of the game :( Traffic was just horrible and there was no State Fair parking left so we had to pay $22 to park in the grass about a mile away from the fair grounds. Here are some pictures from the game...

And this is what we saw when the game was over and we came out of the front doors of the stadium...

The rest of the day was madness! You could hardly walk anywhere because it was so crowded and you couldn't get coupons, food, drinks or anything unless you stood in line for 30 minutes. Here are a few pictures of our short day at the fair...

We did get to enjoy a couple of the fried foods we had been drooling over for days. John had a fried snickers and I had the fried oreos and we both had a corny dog. I was looking forward to trying the fried fritos pie, but the line for that was over 30 minutes so I got the good ol' corny dog instead!
We had a good time and I'm glad we got to go together, but I don't think we'll be going back for a long time! haha

BUSY BUSY BUSY!

I have been at my new job for 2 weeks now and I'm exhausted!

I've been seeing about 20-25 "sick" kids a day, have 5 on daily medications, an immunization deadline of November 3rd, and a very disorganized clinic I'm trying to get organized. I've been going in between 7 and 7:30 and staying until 5:30 or 6 at night and not eating lunch. It's making me exhausted just thinking about it.
The blog has been taking a back seat to life lately because when I get home around 6 I'm almost too tired to do anything. I've been wanting to come home and go straight to the couch for some good TV.
I am reallllly hoping this next calms down a little bit! And, I promise more posts are coming this week! :)

And I will leave you with a funny picture until then... :)

An early birthday!

John and I went to Ft. Worth this weekend for the Tech game and to celebrate my mom's, my grannie's, and my birthday! My birthday isn't until the 27th of this month but my mom and her husband surprised me with the iPad! I guess she's been reading my blog ;) We went to dinner Saturday night at Bone Daddy's which was my brothers choice, not mine. But, the food was excellent and John is really hoping they'll open one in Houston ASAP! haha
Sunday morning we went to brunch at a Mexican food place with the rest of my family. After brunch, of course I made a stop at the Vera Bradley store to buy the iPad cover I had been wanting with the rest of the money I got for my birthday from my aunts.
Excuse this terrible picture of me... it was after we had been in the heat and crowds all day at the State Fair. (A post to come on that later!)

I am loving my iPad! I only wish Facebook would come out with an iPad app instead of just the iPhone one!

I didn't go too all out b/c I don't have a lot of space for extra decorations! But, it's just enough to make our home feel nice and cozy and fallish ;)
