Houston Foodie Feedup

A few weeks ago I got an email from Allison from Nescafe Dolce Gusto inviting me to a Foodie Feed up here in Houston. Of course I RSVP'd!

Monday night I met 5 other bloggers at Feast in Montrose and enjoyed a fun evening of interesting food, wine and coffee.

You notice how I said interesting food up there...?

Well, here's a glimpse at the menu for the night...

Exmoor toast with clotted cream and Anchovies Glass minnows

Fork beard fish heads

Bubble and squeak with potato, kale and Brussels sprouts

Black pudding minted peas and fried egg (duck blood)

Spotted dick (sponge cake with raisins and custard sauce)

interesting right?

And mom, you are going to be so proud. I tried a bite of everything! :-)

I wouldn't go back to Feast just because I'm not a fan of seafood, but if you enjoy the English food and seafood, this would be a great place for you to try out.

Here's how their website describes their food:

"‘Feast’ is run by Richard Knight and James and Meagan Silk, bringing a traditional and
relaxed European approach to dining to Downtown Houston.  We offer simple, honest,
rustic cuisine in a relaxed, homey environment.  Our emphasis is on quality, local,
seasonal ingredients prepared with passion and imagination.
Our desire is to summon the spirit of a family meal shared around the kitchen
table of an old-fashioned European family farm..."

                                                And here are the pictures from the evening...

{Anchovies}

{minnows}

{the fish head}

{playing with our food}

{mashed potatoes, kale and brussel sprouts}

{that is duck with duck blood}

{spotted dick - the best thing I ate all night!}

The main reason we were brought there was to try out the new Dolce Gusto coffee maker!

You can make everything from your morning cup of black coffee to frothy latte macchiatos to iced cappuccinos to chococinos to peach iced tea.

I'm not a big coffee drinker but am excited to try the hot chocolates and teas in this baby.

Yup, they gave us a FREE coffee maker!!! I can't wait to use it! :)

{finally got to meet Tara!}

Thanks Dolce Gusto and Feast for a fun evening!

Interesting is a very generous word for those things- good job for being adventurous! Sorry I couldn't make it, but cool that you got a coffee maker and got to meet Tara.

What a fun opportunity for you! I've been to feast and I agree, food is good but I'm not sure if I would go back. I'm looking forward to a review of this new coffee machine :)

Hi. My name is Michelle and I would love to take you to a normal dinner when you are ready.

I will not make you eat spotted dick.

Sorry. I just had to type it out.
