{RIP Beau, 2000-2011}
I had another blog post scheduled for today, but when I got a call from my mom yesterday at 4:00 saying they were fixing to put Beau to sleep, I knew I couldn't post anything about the Christmas wreath I made this week...
We got Beau my sophomore year of high school and he was the first pet we'd had as a family that was really part of the family.
He was the sweetest 140 lb dog you would ever meet.
Even though I've been away from home for 6 years, every time I pulled up in the driveway he came running and greeted me at my car door.
His health had been deteriorating over the past year or so. The vet just thought he had arthritis because he was so big. He finally got worse the past few days and my mom took him in yesterday.
He had bone cancer in his leg and either they could amputate it and give him chemo or put him to sleep.
My mom did the right thing and chose to put him to sleep so save him from suffering.
I've cried a little bit and I'm still sad.
I'm mostly sad that I couldn't be there to say bye.
Things just aren't going to be the same now when we visit without him there.

Oh I'm so sorry! Losing a pet is never easy. I'm sure he misses you as much as you miss him :) My family pup had bone cancer as well, and it just breaks your heart for them. Thinking of you!

what a handsome dog! i love big dogs...I'm so sorry for your loss but at least he got to live a long life, especially for a large dog!
I am so sorry. Losing a dog is like losing a family member.
Poor Beau! I'm so sorry - losing a beloved pet is so hard. We lost two last year, and it was awful. They were suffering and it was the right thing to do for them, but doesn't make it any easier. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family!
I'm so sorry to hear about Beau. I know you must be so sad. He was such a pretty dog I know he's loving running around in doggy heaven!
Savannah, I am so sorry about Beau. Losing a pet is never easy. We had to put my mom's lab down over the summer. I got him as a puppy when I was 19 and thought he'd be around forever. Taking him in that day to say goodbye was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do.
I know he's up there playing with all the other good dogs in doggy heaven. {Hugs}
Losing a pet is like losing a family member for me so I know how you feel. He's happy and cancer free now

We had to put our 130 lbs yellow lab down a few years. So hard. They realy are family members. Sending positive thoughts your way.
I'm sorry to hear about your dog. I have always had dogs growing up but the two that I have now Ive had the longest and it would be weird with out them, I dont look forward to the day we may have to put them down.
Oh my gosh! I am so so so sorry to hear that you lost your puppy! I love my dog and my parents dog so much and can't even imagine how sad you must be :(
