Remembering Cotton

On this day last year we got the call from the emergency vet that our sweet boy wasn't going to make it much longer. His heart just wasn't working like it should anymore.

And at the exact time that this post is being published 1 year ago, we finally let our boy not suffer anymore and let him go to Heaven.

{we chose to cremate Cotton separately from other animals and keep his ashes. I know it sounds weird to some, but I wouldn't of had it any other way. They also made his paw print in clay and decorated it for us before they took him away.}

I can't believe it's been a whole year without him here with us. Our hearts are healing but thinking back to that day and remembering how sick he looked still hurts so bad and tears still come. I look at all the healthy pictures of him often to try to remember how he looked for the 6 1/2 years before that day.

It's crazy that an animal can make a human feel the way we have. How the presence of them can make you so happy and the loss of them can cause so much sadness, grief and even guilt.

{the card we received from the Pet Memorial Place with his ashes}

We remember Cotton and think about him every day. No words I write here will tell you how much we miss him so I'm just going to leave it at this.

We miss you buddy.
No kitty will ever replace you and we will never ever forget you.

If you're interested, you can read about what happened in the post I wrote last year here. But be prepared and have some tissues in hand. I've warned you.

These pictures are precious. Why do cats love sinks? I don't get it. My sister had a cat that would lay in the bathroom sink for hours. I never understood that. And why do they love Christmas trees? I mean, our animal is all over strange!

I love that you had him cremated. And yes, we will probably do the same and no, it's not weird.

Animals become part of your family. You love them like children, so I think it's only fitting that at the end of their lives, you treat them like humans. We will be doing the same thing whenever that time comes.

This makes me sad... but it's so great that you're honoring that sweetie pie. I haven't ever had to lose an animal that I love, my oldest is 3 and I can't bear the thought of living without her. Next to my husband, our pets are our everything! At least you have lots of photos and good times to remember! What an adorable little kitty :)

This is a lovely post, and I totally get how a pet can become part of your family, losing my first dog Logan was awful. My current dog is getting old now and I'm dreading hearing any bad news! Hope you're okay xxxx

I know this is selfish, but I almost didn't click on this post because I knew it would be sad.

We treat our pets like children and I couldn't imagine losing mine.

On a happier note, I love Cotton in the sink and in the fridge - so funny. Also, he was such a tiny baby fur ball!

Being a cat mom myself, this post really made me tear up.

Then I had a few happy tears seeing him in the fridge. Goofy boy.

Cotton you are a handsome boy and you will forever be loved and missed.

It has been almost a year since we had to put our Kalliegh down. It was such a hard decision but one we knew we had to make. Thankfully the hubs let me take my time as I just wanted more time with her. Our fur babies are so dear to us!!

I can't decide which picture I like the best the nasty face in the sink or the lounging in the fridge!
