I can't believe it's already been 4 years since we visited! John had to go for work for a week and I met him up there Friday night and we enjoyed Chicago for the weekend! 4 of our friends happened to be going the same time so it turned out to be a vacation with our friends too!
We went back when I was working overnights in the hospital, so I worked all night Thursday night and flew out Friday morning without going to bed. Needless to say, I was exhausted when I got there! We went out to dinner with our friends and went to bed early for our early day of a jam packed itinerary!
Saturday we started our day at the Shedd Aquarium....
Then it was more sightseeing... We saw Millenium Park, the Bean and went on a boat tour! I was not prepared for the weather. It was May after all! I froze the entire time and late Saturday afternoon I ended up having to buy a Northface jacket because it was just going to get colder!
Sunday all of our friends left and we got tickets to go to a Cubs game! It was so cool seeing Wrigley Field and all of Wrigleyville!
After freezing our booties off at the game, we went to Navy Pier. For some reason it was completely dead! (Maybe because it was so cold?!) We stayed there a little bit, walked around, and had dinner.
We got a tip that instead of going to Willis Tower, try the John Hancock Building. If you go to the restaurant one floor below the observation deck, you can order drinks and still have the same view of the city. So we went there after the Navy Pier, had a few cocktails and enjoyed the view of the city! If we are ever back in Chicago, I would like to do the Willis Tower though!
Overall, it was a fun trip to Chicago! But way too short. We had to squeeze so many things in and I was still so exhausted from not getting any sleep Thursday night. I would definitely like to go back!
Have you ever been to Chicago?
