Music = Memories

Todays topic is 5 songs that speak to you or bring back memories.

I LOVE music! Mainly country music, but I listen to alot of different things! I also like to listen to music that means something to me or speaks to me so this topic was easy!

Of course every time I hear any music that was used at our wedding, I get goosebumps. But I've shared all the music that we used in our ceremony here so I won't bore you with all of them again. But my most favorite piece was "Somewhere over the Rainbow" by Iz. It's what I walked down the aisle too and I can't help but think of that feeling I had that day when I hear this song!

And every time I hear Bob Marley music, I think back to our trip to Jamaica! They pretty much played Bob Marley all day by the pool so we eventually learned all the words to all his music by the end of our 6th day! haha! One Love is one of my favorites of his and takes me back to the beach with a rum punch in hand!

When John and I first started dating, we listened to a lot of Texas Country - Stoney, RRB, CCR, etc. His old roommate has a band and did a lot of cover music so we spent alot of weekends out watching them. There are a couple of songs that remind me of our early dating days, but Stoney Larue's "Feet Don't Touch the Ground" really reminds me of the first couple of weeks of us dating. The smitten feeling that I had, the feeling of falling in love.... We've done many of slow 2 step dances to this song :)

This is going to sound so stupid, but Jason Aldean's "Amarillo Sky" was mine and few friends "theme song" through nursing school. What does a farm and crops and Amarillo have to do with nursing school? Well, the lyrics "I never complain, I never ask why, please don't let my dreams run dry" fit us perfectly! It was the hardest 2 years of my life and I really thought my dreams would be crushed before every test we took! haha. So now when I hear that song I think back to how hard I worked those 2 years!!!

And this will probably even sound more stupid to some of you... Miranda Lambert's "Over You" was just coming out and getting popular last March (2012)...right when Cotton died. I know this song is about a HUMAN but I couldn't help but relate it to Cotton. "But you went away, How dare you? I miss you. They say I’ll be OK, But I’m not going to ever get over you...It really sinks in, you know, when I see it in stone" If you don't have pets you probably can't understand this, but at the time it really spoke to me so now when I hear it, I think of Cotton.

All of these are great songs! Somewhere Over The Rainbow is one of my favorites. No matter who it is sung, but IZ rocks it!

Wow we have the same taste all around. We used the same version of over the rainbow while our guests were being seated at our wedding.
I love country, all day, any day!
I got my husband into Bob Marley after we heard a Jamaican band on the beach the last night of our honeymoon. Oh, the memories. :)
