NYC Recap: Day 1

What a whirlwind last week was in NYC! New York is always a fun trip, but so exhausting! I need a vacation from my vacation.

I'm going to start the recap with day 1 - Tuesday!

{suitcases ready to go and Lucy not wanting us to leave!}

{on the airplane}

We got in to NYC around 1 on Tuesday, caught a cab and went to straight to our  hotel. We got in a habit of taking selfies in the mirror every day so be prepared for that ;) hehe. Can you tell I'm obsessed with leopard? It was nice to actually need a scarf and a jacket the first day because we left Houston at 90 degrees outside.

We decided on Carmine's for lunch since we had never eaten there, it was close to the hotel and I was starving. It was delicious. The servings were huge so we had to share something - we decided on the chicken parmesan with pasta and the plate was bigger than my head!

Since our hotel was in the Times Square area, we had to walk through it to get pretty much anywhere. We eventually tried to avoid it because it was so crowded - as expected! But the first day, I had to snap a few pictures of everything ;)

We decided to go to the Mets store after lunch because we knew we were going to the Mets game Thursday and wanted to make sure we had shirts to wear since we didn't pack any. John was in Heaven! After we left the Mets store John saw a Mister Softee on the street and HAD to get one. He has talked about Mister Softee during all of our NY trips, but because it's been December, the trucks weren't out. They were on every corner this time!

After our busy day already, we went back to the hotel for a quick rest then made our way back out to the Brooklyn Bridge. We met up with Vicki for dinner at Grimaldi's in Brooklyn so we decided to walk over the bridge. I'm not sure I would do that again... it was a long walk! But excellent for taking pictures :)

We decided to take the subway back to our hotel after dinner instead of walking. By the end of the trip, we were subway experts ;)  Then it was off to bed for another fun filled day in the city.
