Countdown to 30: Things I've Learned

The "Countdown to 30" posts continue! I decided to devote todays post to 30 things I've learned in my 30 years. This year especially was a big learning year for me, good and bad. I know that I will continue learning over the course of my life, but I'm hopeful that the hard life lessons are over with for awhile. These are in no particular order and are things I'VE learned. They may not apply to you, but who knows, maybe they will and you'll learn something new too.

Sometimes things turn out differently than you think and that's ok. It's better that way.

Family and friends will let you down. Learn from it and move on.

You will let people down. Apologize, learn from it and move on.

In the words of Bob Marley "Every little things, gonna be alright"

God will never give you something you can't handle.

It's ok to embrace your weirdness

Everything happens for a reason

Money isn't everything but a savings account and 403B are necessary

Take lots of pictures and not just on your phone

Things you want are worth fighting for

Pets can be your best friends

Unconditional Love - you'll know when you find it

It's ok to splurge every once in awhile.

Date nights and nights in on the couch are both essential

Be open to trying new things. You'll never know what you're missing out on until you try it

Be open to new friendships

Change is good

Complaining gets you no where - get up and do something about it

Hangovers get worse the older you get

Hating your job can make your whole world miserable

Having a job you love means you never have to go to "work"

Don't try to be someone you aren't

There will always be someone who has less than you - be grateful for what you have

Jealousy gets you no where

Don't live beyond your means

Planning your wedding before you're actually engaged will always turn out bad

Don't dye your hair

Manicures and pedicures every 2 weeks are definitely ok to have in your monthly budget

Travel! See as much of the world as you can while you still can

Student loans are worth it for that college education

Don't you wish you could have told your younger self some of this? But experience makes the best teacher! I love and agree with so many of these!
