Curls Curls Curls

Linking up with Stephanie and Katie again!

So, I have really curly hair. It's always been a hassle for me leading me to blow dry and straighten my hair every day. My hair is weird and gets really curly up front but kind of frizzy in the back. So, I don't wear my hair curly very often unless I just am lazy. Well, this pin changed everything.

One big thing I was doing wrong that she specifically says not to do is don't comb through your hair. I would get out of the shower, towel dry my hair, then run a big toothed comb through it!

So after reading her blog, I went and bought some new products and tried it out. I didn't use the same brands she did and I also left out the leave in conditioner.

{This was after drying my hair with an old t-shirt instead of a towel and not running the comb through it. No product or anything. Already much curlier!}

{This was after applying product and getting about half way through blow drying with the diffuser.}

{And this is the finished product!}

{I have to pull my hair back on top just because it is SO curly up front and not in the back. I just use 2 bobby pins to create a poof and the hair falls down over the back so you can't tell it's not as curly}

{And I was blessed with not greasy hair so I can go quite awhile without washing it. This was the second day hair. I just re-wet enough to make it damp and re-blow dry with the diffuser to get the frizz out.}

I've been wearing my hair curly ever since then! I find that after I blow dry and straighten it takes me awhile to get the curls back and I don't want that to happen again. I think I've finally come to terms with the fact that I have curly hair and I should love it! :)

12/17/12: The Ceremony Music

Music is something I spent ALOT of time on and due to a major hiccup at the resort, it all didn't get played. But I still wanted to share what we chose for our ceremony.

I wanted completely non-traditional. We weren't having a traditional wedding after all! I knew from the start of picking a destination wedding,  I would walk down the aisle to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" by Iz. The Wizard of Oz was my favorite movie growing up so this was perfect for me and this version was so "beachy."

So, I kind of went with that "beachy" theme for the rest of the music and based everything off of that song. I had 5 songs picked out to start playing while our guests were arriving and being seated. The sound system ended up not working so none of it got played. We actually had to start the wedding about 10 minutes late so they could get it fixed to play the music for the bridal party entrance and my entrance. Even though it didn't get played, I wanted to share incase there are any other destination brides out there too having the same song choice problems like I did! haha

These were the songs that were supposed to be playing as guests got seated:

"Lucky" by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat

"Wouldn't Change a Thing" by Matthew West

"I Do" by Colbie Caillat

"Home" by Phillip Phillips

"Got Whatever It Is" by Zac Brown Band

The grandparents, parents and bridal party entered to "Marry Me" by Train.

Then I entered to "Somewhere over the Rainbow" by Iz.

For our sand ceremony and signing of our certificate we used "Angel" by Jack Johnson.

And then our recessional song was "Marry You" by Bruno Mars.

I think John was about to kill me by the time the wedding got here trying to decide on music! haha. Every night he would get home from work and I would have You Tube open listening to different songs! Even with the big hiccup, I loved the songs we chose and the 4 that got played turned out perfectly! They used them all in our video (which you will get to see soon!!) and I loved the way they flowed together.

What kind of music did you use at your wedding?

12/17/12: The Details

I spent a lot of time and effort on the little details for our wedding and I'm glad the photographer got all of it on camera. All of these little things made our day OURS and I'm glad I put the extra time in to all of it. I took one of our Save the Dates and invitations too so she could incorporate that into some pictures as well.

{the card I gave John and his watch. No, I didn't buy him this watch and he was really disappointed that it didn't have the right time or date!!}

{everyone laughs at this picture, but what's a wedding in Mexico without Coronas?}

{my jewelry from the Etsy shop Rustic Gem}

{the bracelet I bought for myself to wear for the wedding. It's from the online shop Cap Creations. The hankie was a good family friends who's name was Rose. My sister is named after her and I am named after her daughter, Elise.}

{our invitations, save the dates, door hangers and up front is the brochure I made for everyone and put in their welcome bags}

{our rings on our balcony}

{our door hangers I made and put in everyones welcome bags. I don't think anyone used these, but they were so cute and worth it for this picture}

{My bride shirt I made}

{the cats!!!! I made these for the bouquet, but seeing these when they delivered my bouquet nearly made me cry. And my boy is right in the middle :) }

{well what's a wedding in Mexico without maracas? I ordered them from Amols and we took them all with us. I made the tags for all of them and it says, "Shake this maraca with all your might when you see the groom kiss his new wife." They sat on everyones chair at the ceremony}

{our sand ceremony set. We used teal sand and natural Mexican sand from the beach there. I randomly picked these up at Hobby Lobby one day for like $6 total. I loved the way this looked and I'm glad I didn't spend alot of money on a personalized one.}

What special details did you incorporate in to your wedding?

12/17/12: The Ceremony - Part 2

Here are the rest of the pictures from the ceremony! I also included all of the pictures from after the ceremony before we started group pictures. As we walked back down the aisle, the waiters were there waiting on us with champagne so we all got to do a champagne toast before we did family and wedding party pictures!

Linda, our minister was awesome! She spoke English perfectly and let us customize how we wanted our ceremony to go.

{the sand ceremony}

{I love this picture! My face and the maraca up in the air!}

All the little details of the big day are up next!
