A Kitchen Makeover

Our kitchen has been a big eye sore since we moved in 3 1/2 years ago. It was one of the first things we wanted to remodel, but after looking at costs, it didn't happen as fast as we wanted.

This is from when we first closed on the house...

This was in 2010 after we added the tile floor... (this was right after the installers left which is why it looks so dirty!)

Now 3 years later we decided to go ahead and get a granite countertop, a backsplash, scrub down the white cabinets and add new hardware! We of course also added decorations, curtains and a hutch for all of our crystal we got as wedding gifts. I knew I wanted to do a red and turquoise theme and used this picture from pinterest as my inspiration for decorating!

{yes we have a stack drinks in the corner... we have no other storage in our small kitchen! haha}

We are so happy with how it turned out! The granite and backsplash really make our ordinary (and kind of ugly) white cabinets pop and actually look good! I'm also really happy we happened to find that  hutch at Costco one day for a really good price. It worked great for all of our crystal pieces that were still in their boxes in our closet.

Have you ever remodeled a kitchen?

6 Months

Where does the time go?

Although it seems like it was just yesterday, yesterday marked 6 months since I married my best friend on the beaches of Cancun, Mexico...

I always hear that the first year is the hardest but thankfully it's been anything but hard for us. We have our disagreements but every day is filled with smiles and laughter.

The beautiful wedding we had 6 months ago was just the start to our beautiful life together. I know it's not always going to be perfect, but it will be a fun ride.

Here's to 6 more months, years and even decades....

The Weekend

I was so ready for this past weekend, it wasn't even funny! I was sick with a cold all week so I needed the weekend so I could finally sleep in and rest it off!

Friday night consisted of Mexican food and going to bed early! And kitty snuggles of course :)

Saturday I slept late and then we went to a grill store so John could get his fathers day present from the kitties ;) haha, not really. But he did end up with a new smoker! I really wanted him to buy this pink pig one....

But he got a regular one instead ;)

Saturday night we had planned on going to Discovery Green for a flea market and food trucks. We got there and it was super hot (seriously, what was I thinking?!) and the selection was meh. But it made for some pretty scenery for pics :)

We ended up finding a little pizza joint in downtown called Luigis, which was delish! John said it was the best he's had since we ate at Lombardi's in NY!

After dinner, we went to the movies to see This is the End. Apparently John and Dan heard on the radio that this was the funniest movie ever so they wanted to go see it. I had no idea what I was getting myself in to. It was horrible. It was funny, but stupid. SO STUPID. It kind of reminded me of Shaun of the Dead if y'all have seen that! Don't waste your money!!!

Here's the trailer if any of you are interested...

Sunday I stayed in my PJ's all day until it was time to get ready to go to John's parents. John smoked ribs all day and we took them over to his parents house for dinner.

How was y'alls weekend?
