My First Mothers Day

My first Mothers Day was amazing! Reece and daddy made sure I felt super special :)

I really wasn't expecting much, it actually kind of snuck up on me. That's what having a newborn will do to you. But it was a great weekend, the best I've had in awhile!

To start the weekend, John came home from work Friday with flowers and chocolate covered strawberries! John's mom was over so she watched Reece and put him to bed so John and I could sit down at the table and have dinner together. And he was down for the night after that so we had the rest of the evening to just hang out. So nice!

John got up with Reece Saturday morning so I could sleep a little later than normal and then sent me to get my nails done later in the day. It takes forever to get out of the house now, even without taking the baby! I went to a new nail place by our new house and was pleasantly surprised when they offered me a glass of wine! I've always been big on getting a regular mani/pedi, but I have NEVER appreciated a mani/pedi more than I did that one. It was SO relaxing and nice to be out of the house for the first time without Reece and not going to a doctors appointment for me or him for the first time. Add a glass of wine in and I was feeling good! :)

After my mani/pedi, I ran to target (only to get formula, but hey who cares, it's Target!) and then picked us up dinner from my favorite pizza place. John had gotten Reece ready for bed and was working on getting him to sleep by the time I got home. We had the rest of the evening to just hang out together again.

Sunday, the only thing I wanted to do was get out of the house. I didn't even care where we went. Reece is a pretty fussy baby so we've been really scared to take him anywhere, but we can't stay locked inside forever. We decided to introduce Reece to our favorite place, Costco! haha. I was able to shower and get ready and actually make myself presentable while John watched Reece and then we headed out. Reece did great in his stroller and slept the entire trip!

Afterwards, we went to John's parents for Reece's first trip to Grandma and Pop Pops! He was a happy baby and even cooperated for a Mothers Day photo shoot. :)

The best present though that I got on Mothers Day was Reece giving me REAL smiles for the first time!! Sunday morning I thought he was smiling at me but I wasn't sure, but later that day while we were at John's parents, he was for sure smiling and John's mom snapped a picture of it!

It was a great weekend and the best first Mothers Day. Being a mom, even though it's only been 4 weeks, has made me a different person. It's made me appreciate my mom and other moms so much more. It's the hardest job I've ever had but so worth it!

{John did Reece's footprints in my card!}
