Pinterest Inspired Bathroom Re-do

John and I moved in to our house in 2009. Well, he did and I "unofficially" lived here for a few months until I officially moved in in May 2010.

We have a townhome that has 2 bedrooms (both considered masters) and 2 full bathrooms upstairs connected to each bedroom. Even though we have OUR bedroom, we call that his bedroom since that is where all of his clothes are and he uses that bathroom. We don't sleep in MY bedroom, but that is where my bathroom is, where my clothes are and where I get ready in the morning.

So anyway, my bathroom has been needing an update for a long time. When we moved in, it had this ugly pinkish tile, horrible knobs and an ugly sliding shower door. I didn't want to spend a lot of money with decorations because I honestly I hated the way it looked. So, I went to walmart and bought a few things to help spruce it up a little bit.

This picture is from when we first moved in... You can't really see the knobs but they are white with ugly flowers on them. Not really my style!

This was after a few updates (new knobs and a few decorations) but before the new tile and the latest updates...

Finally, after about a year of living here, we got new tile installed!

And then when we got engaged I knew it was time to finally make the bathroom how I really wanted it! I REALLY wanted to knock out the sliding door but that's not exactly in our budget so I went to pinterest to find ways to make it work.

I found a few pins that really helped with my inspiration...

So we registered for all new things (for both of our bathrooms!) and went to work on making some of these pinterest visions come to life...

I am SO happy with how my bathroom looks now! Of course there are some things I would like to change - new cabinets, new sink, new light fixtures, new mirror, etc, but those aren't in our budget! haha! This made a huge difference with the way the bathroom looks and it makes me alot happier in the mornings when I'm getting ready in here :) Who would have thought just hanging a shower curtain over the door and putting a few pieces of scrapbook paper in frames would make such a difference?

Hopefully in the next few months we will be getting the cabinets and walls painted and a new vanity top! :)

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Way back in February for the Superbowl, I decided to find a few appetizers to make for the party we went to. I decided on the meatball buns (which I blogged about here) and then this buffalo chicken dip since I had heard so many people rave about it. I searched Pinterest for a recipe and found this gluten free version.

(original blog post with recipe found here)

Ingredients:
4 cups shredded cooked chicken
16 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup Franks Hot Sauce
1/2 cup Ranch dressing
1/2 cup Bleu Cheese dressing
3/4 cup crumbled bleu cheese or shredded mozzarella
1/ cup shredded Parmesan for topping

Directions:
Sit out cream cheese to soften
Roast 3 boneless skinless chicken breasts for 30 min at 350 degrees
While the chicken cools, mix together the cream cheese, dressing, Franks and bleu cheese (or mozzarella)
Chop or shred chicken, add to dressing mixture
spoon the dip in to a medium sized casserole dish and top with shredded parmesan
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 min

Special Notes from Me:
I boiled the chicken and shredded it in the Kitchenaid mixer (seriously, best idea ever)
I substituted another 1/2 cup of ranch instead of bleu cheese dressing
I used the mozzarella instead of the crumbled bleu cheese
We served with fritos

This wasn't my favorite Pinterest recipe that I have tried, but I'm also not a huge fan of buffalo chicken. And I might have filled up on the meatball buns ;) John loved it though and I think everyone at the party enjoyed it!

Meatball Buns

Superbowl parties mean lots of food! We were invited to a friends house for the part and while we usually do very low effort food (like ordering pizza) I decided that I would put all my new kitchen stuff to use and actually make something. I searched pinterest and of course it delivered.... Meatball Buns!

Original recipe found here

Who doesn't love meatballs, cheese and biscuits? I know I do! And they seemed pretty easy too!

Ingredients:
1 can Pillsbury Golden Layers Biscuits - each pulled in to 2 layers
10 frozen fully cooked Italian style meatballs - thawed and cut in half
2 sticks parmesan cheese - each cut in to 10 pieces
grated parmesan cheese
dried basil
dried oregano
garlic powder
cracked black pepper
marinara sauce

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375
Separate the biscuits in to 2 layers so you should have 20 pieces
Cut the string cheese in to 10 pieces each
Thaw the meatballs and cut in half
Add one meatball half and 1 stringcheese piece to each biscuit
Wrap the dough around it and seal the edges
Put in a round pan, seal down
Season the buns with pepper, basil oregano, garlic powder and parmesan cheese
Bake uncovered at 375 until golden brown
Serve with marinara sauce

A few notes from me:
I thawed the meatballs in the microwave
I used generic italian seasoning instead of the basil and oregano
Cut the string cheese long ways first and then cut in to pieces. The thinner the pieces, the better they melt.

These ended up being a HIT! They smelled so good and it was hard not to keep eating them before we got to the party. Every one loved them and they all got eaten quick! I'm glad we bought stuff to make 2 batches of them because 1 wouldn't have been enough. If you have a large party I would definitely recommend more than 1 batch!

Another pinterest success!

i love you more than carrots

DIY Burlap and Succulent Wreath

My original inspiration for this project was actually from Stephanie's blog/pin!

Source: snhblog.com via Savanah on Pinterest

I made a trip to Hobby Lobby for the wreath and succulents and then found exactly what I was looking for for the burlap -- CHEVRON Burlap! And guess what... This particular burlap matches our curtains and couch pillows because I got those at Hobby Lobby too! ;) Pictures of all those coming soon!

{the supplies}

{after I hotglued the succulents on}

{wrapped the chevron burlap around the top and tied a bow around our door hanger}

{added a bow next to the succulents}

{close up of the bow - I hotglued the part touching the wreath to it}

{all done! I tried to put the succulents more on the side, but it was too heavy and had to go on the bottom}

Perfect, easy, year round wreath if I do say so myself ;)
